Post-16 Examinations Information

The A Level exams for the June 2023 series will take place from Monday 15th May to Friday 23rd June.

This series, the exams contingencies run over three days.  These are the afternoon of the 8th and 15th June and the whole day of 28th June.  This is time set aside by the DfE in case of a national emergency happening during the exams series, which would necessitate a whole day of exams being moved.  You are advised not to book a holiday until after these dates, as being on holiday is not an acceptable reason to miss an A-Level exam..

Students

If you are ill on the day of an exam you are advised to still try and attend the exam.  If this is not possible you should provide evidence, if available, of the illness to Mrs Bayliss at the earliest opportunity.  If you are absent for another reason you (or parent/guardian) should make contact with Mrs Bayliss on the day to give an explanation, again with evidence if this is applicable.  Exams will not be rescheduled for another day.  You will only have one opportunity to sit each paper.

The A Level results day is Thursday 17th August 2023.  The results will be given out between 8.00 am and 11.00 am (location to be advised).

If you are unable to attend on this day, and you wish to receive your results by post, you should provide the Examinations Officer with a stamped self-addressed envelope (please ensure that the correct amount of postage is applied if using a large envelope) by Friday 7th July 2023.  Results will be posted on results day so you will receive them within 1 or 2 days, depending on the postage you have applied.  Alternatively you can arrange for another person to collect your results on your behalf.  That person must have a letter of permission from you (or this has been provided to Mrs Bayliss in advance of results day), authorising them to collect your results, and photo ID for themselves.  Results will not be handed over without both of these requirements being met.

Results are not given out over the phone. Results can be sent via email to the student’s personal email.  Results will not be issued to parents via email without the written permission from the student.  This arrangement must be made with Mrs Bayliss in advance of results day.  This request can be made in the summer holidays as she will be monitoring emails during this time.

Members of the Senior Leadership Team, the Head of Sixth Form, Heads of Department and a Careers Adviser may be available on this date for any advice concerning the results.

If you have a question about your results please speak to Mrs Bayliss on the day or via email.  Information about Reviews of Results will be available on the results day.

Certificates

Your A Level certificates, which are proof from the individual exam boards of the grades you achieved (they are not the statement of results you will receive on results day), will be available for collection from school from mid-November 2023.

Students should come into school to collect their certificates.  Please contact Mrs Bayliss at exams@aylesfordschool.org.uk to pre-arrange a time/date for collection.  If you cannot collect your certificates in person then you can send someone on your behalf.  They must have a letter of permission from you (or this can be given via an email from yourself) and photo ID of themselves to confirm their identity.  Certificates will only be posted when none of the above can happen.

Please keep your certificates safe.  They are valuable documents and are difficult to replace.  If certificates are misplaced or damaged, you should contact the relevant exam boards to discuss replacement.  Aylesford School does not keep copies of certificates.  If you legally change your name following receipt of your certificates you should contact the relevant exam board to discuss amending them.

Certificates will be kept in secure storage in school for 4 years.  After this time they will be confidentially and securely destroyed.

Students will not be contacted by Aylesford School to remind them to collect their certificates.
